State Budget and Federal Stimulus Update

State Budget

Today, June 12th, the Budget Conference Committee completed it first run-through of the May Revision proposals. The Committee left most of the major issues open for later action. Staff will be working through the weekend trying to find compromises and clarifying what the Committee members want for changes to the Governor’s proposals.

By Tuesday morning, June 16th, the Committee is expected to complete and close-out the May Revision actions and have a budget proposal for a floor vote later in the week. There is no current expectation that the Conference Committee budget will pass either House. Instead it will be sent back to the Committee for further work and another vote later the next week.

Federal Stimulus

The California Association of School Business Officials reported that the California Department of Education later today will have the final federal stimulus allocations on their website. The allocations will be posted on the CDE website at http://www.cde.ca.gov/ar/.
