Budget Stalemate End Not In Sight

The differences between the Senate Republicans and the Senate Democrats are growing rather than narrowing, as are the differences between the Senate and the Assembly.  There is no expectation the State Budget issues will be resolved until the Big Four can meet and work on compromises after August 20, 2007.  

At this point, even if there were practical compromises, the parties might not be interested in adopting them for ideological reasons.  The more pessimistic of us believe the next deadline is September 15, well into record-setting territory for delayed budgets.  The cooperative atmosphere between parties and between Houses has totally, completely and thoroughly evaporated.
