Transportation Hammered - Revenue Limits Mainly Protected
Today the Director of the Department of Finance announced that the 2011-12 General Fund revenue estimates are lower and will result in the automatic elimination of transportation funding starting January 2012 through June 2012, unless the Legislature acts to defer or restructure the cut. The trigger cut also would result in an average $11 per ADA revenue limit cut.
The Governor has indicated that he will build his 2012-13 State Budget based on the assumption his revenue proposal will pass and provide $7 billion of additional state General Fund revenue. He clearly stated, however, that his State Budget proposal will include automatic trigger cuts if the voters do not approve the $7 billion of additional General Fund revenue for the next five years.
