State Revenues Improve
State Controller John Chiang released the November report on State General Fund revenues that show a $500 million (half a billion dollars) improvement in state revenue compared to the budget estimates. At the end of October the state was almost $1.5 billion below the revenue projections. After November the state only is about $1 billion below projections.
We hope the Director of Finance will look at these numbers as a reason to be more optimistic about the full 2011-12 fiscal year General Fund revenues and not project a need to cut schools mid-year.
