Supplement or Supplant?

The Legislative Analyst’s Office has recommended that the new federal stimulus funds be used to replace further cuts in state education funding from the February 2009 state budget.

Today it was reported that Governor Schwarzenegger’s office intends to use the federal stimulus funds to supplement education funding and restore the pre-February State Budget cuts for 2009-10.

While no final action will be taken until June, the Governor’s position will be welcome relief for school districts if state revenues do not so seriously deteriorate that the Governor has to reconsider this position.
